Research Interests:

The dynamic processes of nerve terminals and the molecular aspects of synapse functioning, plasticity and maturation. The control of exocytosis in regulated secretory system of the parotid gland. Proteomics and Genomics approaches for studying differentiation, neurotransmitter phenotype acquisition and synapse formation in neuronal cell-lines.

Bioinformatics - Large scale studies of biological sequences and their global organization. Proteomics, Structural and Functional Genomics.

Research Projects:

MOLECULAR AND CELLULAR BIOLOGY OF THE NEURON
- The synapse: The dynamic processes of nerve terminals and the molecular aspects of synapse functioning, plasticity and maturation.
- Secretory apparatus: The control of exocytosis in regulated secretory system : CNS neurons, parotid gland and neuroendocrine cells.
- Developing neuron: Studying differentiation, neurotransmitter phenotype acquisition and synapse formation in neuronal cell-line (P19 neurons) by proteomics and genomics approaches.

COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY
- Protein classifications: Large-scale organization of the protein space; Functional and Structural maps.
- Structural Genomics: Target selections computational methods, Seeking new folds.
- Functional Genomics: Functional predictions using complex biological data: genomes, expression profiles. Protrein-protein interactions.
